It’s pretty rare in this day and age for a high-end resin statue to go from the pre-order stage to shipping to collectors’ doorsteps within a one-year timeframe. That’s why I’m surprised—and pleased!—that for the second time in two months, I can talk about a First 4 Figures statue that’s gone through from the PO stage to the doorstep phase in the same amount of time it takes for a real baby to go from conception to delivery: the first shipments of the F4F Soul Calibur Taki Statue that went up for order last October have started to arrive!
I’ve been collecting for my entire life, so I’ve had to learn patience and the tenet that good things come to those who wait. And as a resin statue collector, wait I do! Sometimes up to three years from pre-order to delivery, depending upon the company.
But it’s always nice when the wait is shorter than you might expect—and that’s the case with another of First 4 Figures’ statues! Following the trend of the F4F Mugen Statue which the first shipments of started in June, initial shipments of Taki from Soul Calibur II are arriving after just nine months as well!
The shipments of Taki for my region aren’t scheduled to arrive until next month, but thankfully, several members of the First 4 Figures Official Collectors Club Facebook Group who already received their Taki figures were nice enough to send in some photography and impressions of her! Thanks so much, guys!!
Although Taki is a huge 1:4 scale statue, we can see that her box is actually pretty modestly sized (thank God!). No four foot tall box this time–Taki’s box looks to be pretty similarly sized height-wise to the Soul Calibur II Nightmare statue (who’s about 22″ tall).
And speaking of Nightmare–as Taki is the second figure in the First4Figures Soul Calibur II statue series, we have the benefit of seeing how she looks matched up against The Azure Knight! Taki is looking pretty deadly here, and I can’t wait to see how she’ll look facing off against the next addition to the F4F Soul Calibur II series: Ivy Valentine (who we’re still a while away from seeing up for pre-order)!
Here’s Tim Hammond’s thoughts on Taki (to complement his great photos, including the comparison photos of Taki lined up with Nightmare): “I think the scale is okay. The dynamic base makes Taki seem a little taller than she is especially next to Nightmare, but I think it works. Definitely gives more of a ninja flair!”
“I love that the pose shows off her ‘assests’, but doesn’t go too far down the sleazy path and still portrays her as a badass ninja! Definitely happy. Paint job is great. Funds permitting, I am looking forward to the next Soul Calibur statue release!”
F4F OCC member Alvin Jong also sent in photos and impressions of his Taki statue: “Overall very satisfied with the sculpt (especially the round parts which caused my camera to have a hard time focusing)! Great paint job as expected–as good as the prototype, IMHO! No regret ordering it Day One. Hopefully F4F will continue making this line!”
The First 4 Figures Taki statue still has Wait List orders available, with the figures scheduled to arrive in all regions of the world staggered over the next 1-3 months. The Taki Exclusive version statue has a limited edition size that’s a shockingly low 325 pieces, so anyone who wants to be assured of getting her should absolutely get on the Wait List ASAP!
Thanks so much for sending in your photos and thoughts on the Taki statue and giving us permission to post them, Tim and Alvin! What do you think of the final production version of Taki, #F4Fans? As one of the first non-Nintendo females that First4Figures has ever released a statue of, do you think F4F nailed Taki perfectly?
