F4F Q&A #62 Recap: Splatoon TT Incoming! Resin Crash Update!

It’s everybody’s favorite 3 hours of the week: the latest edition of the First 4 Figures Q&A Live-stream with First4Figures CEO Alex Davis and Lieutenant Chockles! In the shadow of the Last Chance Weekend Orders for Artorias SD PVC opening up for the final time, who knows what tantalizing trivia we’ll learn this week from the dynamic duo? Let’s get right into it and find out… (Oh, and did somebody say “Splatoon”?!)

F4F QA Recap 62 HeaderOn The Week in Review:

  • From now, F4F will send out a few “guinea pig” test shipments of new statues before shipping the bulk of the statues, so that another incident like with Sif doesn’t happen again
  • Sif has been a really expensive and painful lesson that First 4 Figures needs to learn and grow from
  • Still working on Crystal Dragon–Alex isn’t happy with it and wants to make it better; has some ideas for improving it
  • The F4F Blog will start including articles discussing how new gaming announcements such as Nintendo Direct relate to First4Figures; want the blogs to be a little bit related to what’s going on with the licensors

On TT Polls (Temptation Thursdays):

  • Nier 2B TT: 705 ‘Yes’ Votes! Alex is super-surprised; Chock is not surprised at all.
  • Fulgore TT: 102 ‘Yes’; 147 ‘No’ Votes — Haven’t been that many votes, but the ‘No’ votes haven’t washed out the ‘Yes’ votes as Alex expected.
  • Top TT Vote-Getters: All-Might (My Hero Academia), Pokemon, Banjo-Kazooie, Dead Space, Nier2B
  • Robotech TT next week, Golden Sun in 2 weeks, in 3 Weeks: Splatoon TT!!

Alex Davis Checks His HeartThe Q&A:

  • If everything goes smoothly, Guts will go up for order in 3 weeks (April 6)
  • Modern Amy Rose is not in development yet, but if and when F4F gets to her, things should go smoothly
  • Positive comments received from Nintendo so far about True Form Midna; still a few requests to implement that will take time; fingers crossed
  • Shadow Kirby would be more of the purple-effect galaxy style than the grey version if done
  • Crash Bandicoot resin pre-order will be the next pre-order
  • Licensors get paid a minimum guarantee and a royalty of around 12.5%-20% for statues sold; but the royalties don’t get paid until the minimum guarantee has been met via sales
  • The licensing agreements can be very different depending upon the licensor and franchise
  • If someone commits to buy 750 Tomba statues, hit Alex up
  • No news on Donkey Kong right now–just about to wrap up Mario and Yoshi
  • No MHA Update: “Submitted; but it’s complicated”–Not in F4F’s hands; it’s 50/50
  • Kamina hasn’t been submitted yet because there were further comments on things to be changed
  • Spike may actually go up for order before Jet in the Cowboy Bebop series; Spike has caught up to Jet in development
  • Dark Souls II/III statues are still far away; in 3-D stage only
  • There’s nothing to see in Hong Kong; the thing about Hong Kong is, if you’re not from Hong Kong, the attraction of Hong Kong is Hong Kong itself–just being there; the population density that’s taken for granted by those who live there
  • New York City was like a paradise to Alex and Chock with all of the extra space in the streets!
  • Bowser production videos won’t start for a while now
  • Meta-Ridley will likely be up for order before Gravelord Nito
  • Metal Sonic is still at 3-D, so are Sonic and Tails but further down the line
  • No news on Samurai Jack or Genos
  • Modern Sonic line interest is far lower than the classic and diorama lines
  • Sales goal for every statue now is 500+
  • Snake production will start after Mugen and Tekken Jin
  • Alex has not made any statues for himself that he doesn’t plan to sell
  • Resin Crash Bandicoot statue pre-order next week (March 23 2018)
  • BOTW Rider Link will be expensive–more complicated and detailed than Link on Epona and production costs have gone up a lot
  • There could still possibly be 3 or more Legend of Zelda statue pre-orders in 2018; Alex still thinks it will be 2 or 3 minimum; lots of LoZ in development that will come out eventually
  • Factory owner gets excited when Alex visits the factory, but factory workers get quite nervous because usually Alex is “spotting mistakes and going batshit crazy” when visiting the factory
  • Aku Aku Mask production hasn’t started yet
  • Alex: “Star Wars.”
  • Chock: “Star Trek.”
  • F4F tried for Jo-Jo’s Bizarre Adventure license as one of his first licenses, but it was denied–maybe a new poll would help
  • Konami made the final decision regarding Twilight Alucard’s collar color–Alex apologizes to those who are disappointed by their choice
  • Jin Ultimate Edition is not a certainty but could be a reality; will have to think about it
  • Earthworm Jim TT already exists–rally for it and share it out
  • Alex and Chock will work tirelessly on a 5-second pose
  • Crystal Cloak Alucard variant still under consideration
  • Mainly no surprise statues coming up; perhaps some PVCs
  • Over 9000 votes needed for consideration of Alex & Chock resin figures
  • Chibiterasu is more than a confirmed thought–he’s in development
  • Spyro Remastered is just a rumor until confirmed by Activision
  • Banjo-Kazooie is still on-schedule for Q2 2018; some improvements have been made and it’s looking good
  • The first Majora’s Mask shipments should arrive around the end of March 2018
  • Skull Knight Pre-order “possibly” this year; probably 7-8 months between Berserk pre-orders
  • Mugen should leave the factory in late April; deep in production now
  • Nothing is off the table if there’s enough support for it regarding how graphic F4F statues can be
  • First 4 Figures would be making a lot more Legend of Zelda statues if they could
  • Kiryu from Yakuza is still in the Vault; needs to be reworked
  • No Puppet Meryl exclusive for Psycho Mantis; too expensive
  • Need to see how Chibiterasu and Shiranui and PVC Amaterasu sell before continuing Okami line
  • Do we want to see 1:3 or 1:2 Amaterasu?
  • Nothing to report on Sparx and Dragon Egg
  • Alex went back-and-forth between the Berserk manga and anime simultaneously
  • No news on the Soul Calibur line; Taki packaging approved the other day
  • Bayonetta is caning Alex’s ass; Alex needs to make some decisions on her in the next day or so
  • Not sure what’s going on with Fighter Kirby statues bending; Alex thinks people are misassembling him and putting the back foot in the wrong place
  • Bowser and Varia Suit Samus will be done at the same factory; Varia Suit Samus should be first
  • Spyro is coming along nicely, but factory is still concentrating on Majora’s Mask right now
  • Amaterasu LSB is at the casting stage; should ship in about 3-4 months time
  • No news on Yu-Gi-Oh or Dead Space
  • Guts pre-order in 3 weeks’ time; black-and-white variant would be later if First4Figures chose to do one
  • Yes to Warp Star Kirby variants
  • Chances of Fighter Kirby Wait Lists converting are very, very slim
  • Sonic and Tails Pre-Order hopefully at the end of the year
  • If people want to see Twilight Alucard’s collar be more grey, Alex can mock up some versions to look at
  • Chocks’ favorite Streets of Rage soundtrack: ending credits from first game
  • Alex was a fan of the game from back in the day; liked Axel doing uppercut
  • Chock was unexpectedly impressed with the Alucard sales
  • If Richter Belmont was done, F4F would be a combo pack of Rondo of Blood and Symphony of the Night versions
  • No updates on Aika–keep rallying the fans and pushing the TT poll; nothing to combo pack
  • Alex says Aika won’t be the first F4F Ultimate Edition statue. Hmmmm.
  • Nothing to report on Yakuza; have to go back to the drawing board on that
  • Still waiting on more feedback on True Form Midna from Nintendo
  • Next reveal will be at 50K Members
  • Super Exclusives run the whole two weeks and Last Chance Weekend now (starting with Alucard) and will always stay that way–annoying and difficult trying to advertise for a three-day window
  • All of the advertising for Snake was only for the Exclusive, because by the advertising started the three-day window for Neon Snake was already finished
  • F4F would love it if Activision was working on a Spyro HD Remaster
  • Spike pre-order hopefully in the next two months
  • First4Figures didn’t know about Geralt being in Soul Calibur VI, but does have access to some secret info
  • May need to run a new official Fullmetal Alchemist character poll when Alphonse goes up for order
  • Alphonse will have some production challenges because it’s a big piece
  • Alphonse isn’t ready to be submitted yet; probably 3-5 months before pre-order; will sneak as soon as approved
  • No sneak peeks of Bayonetta until Alex feels more confident about the sculpt
  • No news on Legend of Spyro statues right now
  • Tried for Ghost in the Shell license a long time ago and was denied
  • Banjo-Kazooie pre-order likely at the end of April or beginning of May
  • Chocks hasn’t eaten any snacks today
  • Let’s see how the 1/6 Phoenix Wright statue does before talking about a 1/4 Ultimate Edition Phoenix Wright
  • No 5-Second Pose During Who Dat Who Dat because no one got Alex’s heart racing
