Spyro the Dragon fans have had to be patient, but after waiting since pre-orders closed in summer 2017, the resin First 4 Figures Spyro the Dragon Statue is finally shipping worldwide this month! But F4F has plenty more in store for fans of the little purple dragon! Not only is the Reignited Spyro & Sparx EX PVC currently up for order, but more PVCs are in the works including a classic Ripto’s Rage Spyro and even rainbow Spyros based off the cheat codes in Reignited!
Among the multitude of reasons that the First 4 Figures Official Collector’s Club is the largest official collectibles group of its kind on Facebook are the frequent teases and sneak peeks dropped into the club by F4F CEO Alex Davis.
Video Game and Anime statue collectors not in the OCC are really missing out on all of the previews shown, and in recent weeks, it’s Spyro fans missing out the most!
First off, we got to see a duo of sneak peeks of an all-new upcoming True Form Spyro PVC figure—this time, based off of the iconic cover to Ripto’s Rage. The classic Spyro resin statue is a rare instance where the quantity made wasn’t sufficient to meet the demand (and number of fans on the Wait List), so I foresee plenty of OG Spyro fans being delighted when this Ripto’s Rage PVC goes up for sale in 2019.
But now that the Reignited Trilogy video game is out in the wild, F4F can reveal a plethora of repainted color variants for the existing Spyro Reignited PVC statue—in all 7 cheat code colors from the video game! The different color iterations are also planned to come with a variety of different gem colors, so they won’t all be pawing the red gem like the original version is.
Thus far, we’ve seen previews of the various colors being tested for the colored Spyros, and even very early in-development prototypes of the blue, pink, yellow and green Spyros! That just leaves the red, purple and black versions without sneak peeks of any kind.
According to a recent Q&A with Alex Davis, we may even see these rainbow Spyro variants offered at a lower price than the Exclusive version, as they’ll be complete repaints that require a bit less paintwork than the normal version of the character.
We also know from the Q&A livestreams that a Reignited Spyro resin statue in a totally different pose from the PVC is also in development, although no sneak peeks of the statue have been shown yet. If the first several Spyros First4Figures have put up for sale are any indication, though, this should be a hot item when it’s ready to be solicited!
In addition, the potential for a powered-up Spyro version has also been teased, although we haven’t seen any previews of one yet and it hasn’t been confirmed. All of these upcoming products are still undergoing and are, as always, subject to Activision approval.
The Spyro & Sparx Exclusive PVC statue is currently up for pre-order on the F4F website, with the various in-development PVCs and the Reignited resin expected to go up for sale in 2019. The EX PVC that’s presently up for pre-order is deep in production and anticipated to ship out in the next few months.
What do you think of these upcoming projects, #F4Fans? Do new versions of Spyro the Dragon get you excited, or are you hoping to see F4F move on to other characters from the video game series (or even other game series altogether)?
Check back for updates as these items move closer to pre-order and production status, and be sure to join the First 4 Figures OCC on Facebook to see all the latest news and sneak peeks!
