One of the many perks of being part of the First 4 Figures Official Collector’s Club Facebook Group is that members of the group oftentimes get a first look at teaser photos and special sneak peeks of upcoming statues. If you’re not already in the group, you should definitely join up. Here’s a small taste of some of what you’ve been missing in recent weeks…
First up, we’ve got a new look at the first Cowboy Bebop Statue: the Space Cowboy himself, Spike Spiegel. Now, we’ve seen F4F Spike statue quite a few times over the course of almost two years now, but this particular look shows us something we haven’t seen before: Spike with a lit cigarette in his mouth!
From this profile view of the head sculpt, it’s pretty clear that First4Figures has absolutely nailed the structure of Spike’s face pitch-perfectly. Pretty miraculous for a 3-D representation of a 2-D anime character!
The post with these images—made by First4Figures CEO Alex Davis—mentioned that the pre-order for Spike was scheduled for July 2018. Since we know that the Banjo-Kazooie Statue PO period begins on July 6th, we can assume that the Cowboy Bebop Spike Exclusive Statue will go up for sale on the F4F website on either July 20th or July 27th, depending on whether there are two weeks or three between the two statues going up for sale.
We also got our very first preview of the Blue Kirby variant of the Warp Star Kirby statue! This is a color variant that I requested specifically, so I’m tickled pink (or should it be blue?) to see this blue colorway coming to fruition. From what we’ve heard, Warp Star Kirby is likely to go up for sale in Q3 2018 (July-September 2018).
In addition, there were some quick glimpses of pieces that are further down the pre-order pike a bit. Alex Davis mentioned earlier this year that we’d be getting replica Bayonetta guns as the first F4F Bayonetta product, and along with noting in this week’s Q&A livestream that we may see her guns up for pre-order toward the end of 2018, we also got our first teaser photo of one of the guns! This will definitely be an interesting release as the first-ever 1:1 weapons replica by F4F.
Shovel Knight fans got to see a new shot of the original Green Shovel Knight Statue prototype this weekend. First 4 Figures is going to recreate this statue from scratch before it goes up for pre-order, so even though this is a color variant, it sounds like we may have a bit of a wait for the pre-order for it.
Last—but absolutely not least—we’ve got a new sneak peek of a statue that’s likely to outsell every other piece discussed in this article combined: Dark Souls Ornstein SD! As a PVC piece that seems likely to have a $100 MSRP for the Exclusive Edition, this is an Ornstein that vastly more Dark Souls fans will be able to afford than the $700 1/4 version.
The giant-eyed kitty cat-looking helmet on SD Ornstein really captures my heart, making this easily my favorite Dark Souls SD figure to-date. The extremely chibi style of this Ornstein took some Dark Souls fans by surprise, but I think this will really grow on most collectors by the time it goes up for sale.
If you want to see many, many more sneaks peeks like these, be sure to join the F4F OCC Group on Facebook—now at 51K members and growing every day!
What do you think of this batch of previews, #F4Fans? Any must-haves for you in this assortment?
